Not your typical compilation, this disc contains the entire 1976 Resolution album, bookended by "Avenging Annie," the chart single from Andy Pratt's previous album, Andy Pratt (which also charted for Roger Daltrey), and "All I Want Is You" and "So Faint" from Pratt's subsequent album, Shiver In the Night. It has been a long wait for a CD release for the exquisitely recorded Resolution, which has lost none of its sheer aural appeal over 20 years. Though it is identifiably a 1970s pop effort, echoing the work of the Bee Gees, Elton John, and Gilbert O'Sullivan, among others, the album contains sophisticated arrangements that propel it past such peers. And the heart of the record remains Pratt's singing, its apparent delicacy belied by its passion. There's no telling why such a record failed to become a million-selling hit, but at least now it's available again for all those who missed it the first time around.
