This package brings together the last two of the four albums the Flamingos recorded for George Goldner's End Records. Recorded between 1959 to 1963, this finds the group at the peak of the smooth style. Requestfully Yours was originally issued in 1960 in a mono-only format. This is odd, because many of the tracks were recorded in stereo and those that were appear here in that format. The original album featured six tunes originally released as singles (including "I Was Such a Fool," "Nobody Loves Me Like You Do," "Beside You," "At Night" and "You, Me and the Sea") along with a half dozen specifically cut for the long player. The second album included here, The Sound of the Flamingos, was released in 1963, their last for the label. It's filled with breathtaking performances of smooth standards done in the Flamingos style, including the Orioles' "It's Too Soon to Know" and the venerable "Ol' Man River." Clean transfers, original artwork and solid performances makes this another one to add to the collection of this amazing group.
