AllMusic Review by

The title of this collection is slightly misleading as it is not an original concept album built around the movies nor is the CD even a selection of songs that Frank Sinatra has performed in films. Instead, Remembers the Movies features songs originally written for feature films that Sinatra went on to perform live on the radio during the 1940s. There are a number of good selections here, but the standout track is "I Only Have Eyes for You," which finds a loose and relaxed Sinatra sitting in with the peerless Benny Goodman Sextet. The fact that the singer did intimate and swinging jazz pieces like this on his radio programs much more often than on his official Columbia recordings is one of the reasons that so much of his 1940s radio output is of interest to collectors, even if it can't be considered essential to more casual fans.
