This 14-track collection pays tribute to one of the great British entertainers of the 20th century. He was a great singer, an actor on-stage and screen, and also a songwriter greatly admired by such disparate artists as David Bowie and Sammy Davis, Jr.. Remembering the Music, the Life, the Legend collects hit songs like "The Candy Man," "What Kind of Fool Am I?," and "Who Can I Turn To (When Nobody Needs Me)" from smash plays and films like Stop the World: I Want to Get Off and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. This CD was recorded sometime in the 1990s near the end of Newley's life. Dedicated fans will likely enjoy hearing Newley look back at his career and won't mind that he is not in peak form. Fans who are just discovering Newley will be better served by a collection of the original recordings of these songs.
