Heat Wave

Oh yeah! Obscure Latin soul with heavy cats just kicking back and having a party, followed by progressive Latin, primordial salsa, of the first order. Then the two combine in the outstanding harmony of "Golden Bugaloo." While there's not much to it musically ("Come on dance the boogaloo"), it has the sound: top percussion, as to be expected from Rodriguez. The singing by Leo Casino and Adalberto is as spirited and exciting as it gets, and the horns have the same dirty texture as does labelmate Kool Heat's album. Anyone into serious Latin or boogaloo will consider Pussycat essential. Note that the jacket front misleadingly says Heat Wave instead.
