A sampler of contemporary reggae artists, from roots to dancehall, this second volume in the Reggae Now series has a fresh, bright feel to it.. There's a lot of variety here, and some of the obvious highlights include Sizzla's "Vision," the epic and narrative "Based on a True Story" by Turbulence, and the Bob Marley-influenced "No More Murder" by Morgan Heritage. Luciano's soulful singing makes "Thanking You God" another standout. It is easy to think that reggae's greatest moments are in the past, but compilations of fresh songs like the ones included on this disc give us glimmers of a new and bright incarnation taking shape in the crucible of the Jamaican dancehalls.
