Reggae and Ska Twin Pack Review

by Andy Kellman

Throughout 2001 and 2002, the Dressed to Kill label issued a series of reggae compilations under the generic Reggae and Ska Twin Pack banner. These sets bundled together budget-level compilations of two artists and sold them for the price of one. While these quick-and-cheap overviews of the respective artists are a decent way to check out reggae legends, there is just no escaping the fact that they are, well, quick and cheap. You get what you pay for. The packaging is hideous -- each installment is a real eyesore -- and all of these artists have better points of entry available. If in need of a quick fix, these'll do. Otherwise, stay away. This set spotlights Bob Marley and U-Brown. On Marley's disc, "Adam and Eve," "This Train," "More Axe," "Soul Rebel," "Turn Me Loose," and 15 others are included. U-Brown's half features "Black Princess," "Me Have to Get You," "Jam It Tonight," and eight others.
