AllMusic Review by

The second volume gathered from Eddie Palmieri's stint at Sing Sing Prison lacks the all-out energy of the first, but still displays his 20-piece orchestra ripping up the room as good or better than they did in the studio. Though the resolution lacks the perfect sound of the studio version, the opener "Vamonos Pa'l Monte" cranks up the energy, while "Somebody's Sons," a feature for Jimmy Norman's Harlem River Drive singers, adds social commentary and some soul grit in front of an appreciative audience. Inserted onto the end of the first song is a long spoken-word piece for poet Paquito Navarro.
