REBEL HEART is an absolutely fascinating low-fi collection of soundtracks from Gene Vincent's appearances on British television between 1959 and 1963. Vincent had lapsed into relative commercial obscurity in America at this point. But in England, where he performed in a black leather outfit that provided fashion tips for both Jim Morrison and the comeback period Elvis Presley, he was considered something of a deity, along with fellow first generation rockers Little Richard, Chuck Berry, and Carl Perkins.
Here, he's backed by several Brit bands of the period (1962), the best known being Sounds Incorporated. A video version of the latter performance occasionally surfaces on PBS, and is definitely worth looking for.
