Raus is a creative and artistic model for those seeking original, relevant music incorporating both a traditional and modern foundation. From Germany, this quintet possesses several unique components. With hip-hop as a starting point, Lecker Sachen skillfully employ Celtic touches from their fiddler Elise Schirrmacher, multi-instrumentalist Markus Brachtendorf (whistles, mandolin, flute), acoustic guitar and accordion player Achim Näckel, and guest musicians Johannes Schiefner (uilleann pipes), Roland Hebborn (banjo), and Guido Plüschke (bodhran). All vocals are sung in German and to make matters even more interesting, the modern classical ensemble Da Gangsta String Trio accompanies Lecker Sachen on several tracks, creating an unusual yet pleasing dynamic. This two-disc album is a live recording that barely touches on material from their previous Im Tal der Infrarotlurche, which was more of a pop/hip-hop effort. Raus includes only acoustic instruments, including some impressive playing from the rhythm section of drummer Ingo Solbach and bassist Otto Schneider, one of the very few hip-hop rhythm sections (if not the only one) that doesn't rely on electronic gimmicks and gadgetry. With impeccable audio quality, astounding originality, and an overall cool vibe, this album is a complete aural adventure.
