AllMusic Review by

Given the vagaries of the music business, and the Jamaican music business in particular, where the same product is licensed to different labels in different countries, and then is often sub-licensed to yet another label, it is no wonder that countless collections of Bob Marley's pre-Island Records material find their way into the record stores, often containing the same tracks, sometimes even with the same picture on the front. This two-disc set, manufactured in England, contains a mixed bag of songs from the mid-1960s produced by Clement Dodd ("Donna," "Maga Dog") and Leslie Kong ("Soul Shakedown Party"), as well as a few cuts produced by the Wailers themselves. The music is fine, as far as it goes, but the whole package has a thrown together feel, and since there are many different ways to get these tracks, there is no particular reason to go with this package.
