Much of the appeal in the two-disc Deluxe Edition of Let’s Get It On is the non-album content on disc one -- nine tracks, including two versions of the phenomenal “You’re the Man,” from a canceled project of the same title. None of that is on the Rarities Edition version of Let’s Get It On. As with the other discs in the series, this simply (thoughtlessly) extracts the Deluxe Edition’s second disc and issues it separately (with the same artwork as the original release). There’s still plenty to absorb for insatiable Marvin fanatics -- including demos, outtakes, instrumental versions, alternate takes, and the Originals and Monitors versions of “Just to Keep You Satisfied” -- but the picture presented here is far from complete.
