AllMusic Review by

Trumpeter Red Allen is heard with his quartets of 1962-63 (which include either Sammy Price or Lannie Scott on piano, bassist Frank Skeet and drummer Jerry Potter) playing an odd variety of material ranging from "That's a Plenty" and a remake of "Biff'ly Blues" to "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face" and "Hava Nagila." Throughout, Allen's New Orleans-based but unclassifiable solos are much more modern than expected in spots while still being accessible enough to the audience at Chicago's London House.
