In the late 1960s, pianist Ralph Sutton recorded several albums of material at Sunnie's Rendezvous, an Aspen, Colorado jazz club owned and run by his wife. This 1998 CD has a previously unissued set that matches together Sutton, Bob Wilber (sticking to soprano), bassist Al Hall and drummer Cliff Leeman. Wilber sounds fine, but it is Sutton's passionate striding on the piano that really gives this program its momentum. The uptempo numbers work best, with some of the more memorable selections (all of which are veteran standards) being "What a Little Moonlight Can Do," "I've Found a New Baby" and "St. Louis Blues."
