The directorial debut of Alison Eastwood, Clint Eastwood's daughter, also features the music of Clint's son Kyle. Although Kyle usually specializes in post-bop and fusion-oriented jazz, his soundtrack for RAILS & TIES provides a soft, ambient cushioning for the emotional narrative of Alison's film.
For RAILS & TIES Eastwood collaborated once again with Austin Lounge Lizards member Michael Stevens (the two also created the music for LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA). The pieces are generally quiet and meditative, featuring piano, guitar, and synth textures; and they aren't meant to stand out so much as create a reflective, sometimes melancholy, mood.
