AllMusic Review by

The Elite Syncopators is a quartet comprised of pianist Terry Parrish, banjoist James Marshall, Steve Ley on tuba and Mike Schwimmer on washboard and occasional vocals. On their Stomp Off CD, they perform a variety of tunes, mostly obscurities from the ragtime era, ranging from rags to very early pop tunes. The ensemble-oriented results are pleasing, if not all that memorable, although many of the titles (such as "Ragged Rapids Rag," "Ma Ragtime Queen," "Happy Days in Dixie" and "When Ragtime Rosie Ragged the Rosary") are not performed too often. Most highly recommended to ragtime historians.
