AllMusic Review by

The two well-recorded broadcasts included on this 1997 Danish CD feature the Harry James Orchestra just prior to its rise to the top of the big band world. James is the dominant soloist, although tenor saxophonist Vido Musso gets in his spots; a small string section was added to the band just prior to the second aircheck. The selections alternate between swinging jazz, occasional displays for James' virtuosic playing (such as "Carnival of Venice"), and less interesting ballad features for Dick Haymes. Among the better jazz tracks are "Cherokee," "Girl of My Dreams" and "Jeffrie's Blues."
