Dan Storper founded the Putumayo clothing company in 1975, selling it in 1997, but before he did, he founded (with Michael Kraus) Putumayo World Music in 1993, with the idea of presenting bright, joyous music from diverse cultures, both traditional and contemporary, and the label has grown into a successful music brand, with countless themed compilations on the market, most featuring the distinct cover illustrations of British artist Nicola Heindl. This set is the latest in Putumayo's successful Putumayo Presents series, focusing this time out on haunting and uplifting Native American flute and vocal music from both U.S. and Canadian artists.
