The Fluid reached a new plateau on purplemetalflakemusic, as the Denver band finally found a hard rock style that both separated it from the rest of its Sub Pop peers and improved upon its thinner-sounding earlier efforts. Of course, due to horrible label backing at Hollywood Records, the group disbanded after this. Unlike a large part of the original Sub Pop scene, who borrowed heavily from '70s heavy metal and punk (Nirvana, Melvins, Tad), The Fluid embraced a full-throttle MC5 approach with the dual guitar attack of Richard Kulwicki and James Clower. The Fluid concentrated on the music, making purplemetalflakemusic a damn good blast of rock & roll energy.
