AllMusic Review by James Christopher Monger

Pure: Love, part of EMI's triple-disc Pure series, features a dizzying array of amorous hits spanning generations, genres, and varying levels of "guilty pleasure" comfort. There are plenty of obvious choices here like "God Only Knows" (Beach Boys), "The Air That I Breathe" (Hollies), and "Tonight, I Celebrate My Love" (Peabo Bryson), but what makes the set interesting is the inclusion of left-field candidates like Ultravox's "Vienna" and Philip Oakey and Giorgio Moroder's "Together in Electric Dreams," the latter of which appeared in an obscure '80s romantic comedy of the same name. Pure: Love gets high marks simply for its adventurous spirit.
