This is an independent-label release from a very talented trio. Kim Atkinson (percussion) has played with Steve Kindler (Dolphin Smiles) and on many other world music releases. Tony D'Anna (keyboards and flutes) has played with Radhika Miller and Michelle Sell among others, and Kendrick Freeman plays percussion and drumset. Each also adds exotic sounds like waterphone, djembe and berimbau, making this comparable to Michael Pluznick's Where the Rain Is Born in its lengthy pieces and stretched out jams. The keyboard parts are especially tasty, and the percussion combinations are downright hot.
