Itamar Assumpção is a proponent of the Vanguarda Paulistana movement. Accordingly, his musical persona consists of irony, humor, Brazilian music, pop culture, and pinches of erudite experimentation. This album is dedicated to the great composer Ataulfo Alves, also an unprejudiced artist who mixed several alien influences with the samba language. Interpreting the master's works with finesse and originality, avoiding the traps of the commercial formulas, this is a sincere release that pursues a modern, cosmopolitan language to translate to a broader world audience the creativity of a great composer. Electric grooves, funk, reggae, and other contemporary rhythms are combined with true Brazilian rhythms, resulting in refreshing renditions of the hits "Saudades da Amélia," "Mulata Assanhada," "Pois É," and others, with the help of guest artists Jards Macalé and Duofel.
