Hip-O's Power Chords Live is a 12-track collection of live versions of such hard rock and arena-rock hits as Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Workin' for MCA," Gary Moore's "Cold Day in Hell," Foreigner's "Feels Like the First Time," Glenn Frey's "Smuggler's Blues," Night Ranger's "(You Can Still) Rock in America," Foghat's "Fool for the City," Deep Purple's "Highway Star," Steppenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride" and Joe Walsh's "Rocky Mountain Way." It's reasonably entertaining, but the fact that all the cuts are live means that the disc won't be of much interest for casual listeners -- the kind likely to acquire this music on a various-artists collection, instead of albums by individual artists. If these had been the original hit versions, the collection would be more highly recommended, but as it stands, the negatives outweigh the postitives on this one.
