With longer tracks and a smaller instrumental pool from which to draw, this live recording of this unusual group is somewhat less interesting than the earlier Offline Adventures (Leo Records Laboratory). Nonetheless, fans of this fascinating conglomeration should be mostly pleased with the unique sounds that continue to be generated. Once again led by the talented Elisabeth Böhm-Christl (on bassoon and contra-bassoon) and Jochim Gies (on saxophone), the group adds a small contingent of strings, a vocalist or two, a trombonist, a trumpeter, and an electronics manipulator (used effectively and sparingly) to create a mélange of auditory sensations. The vocalists, though highly talented, are not always convincing, and some may find that they detract from the overall effect. The original compositions by the leaders never fall into established patterns.
