Once again, with POR ESO TE AMO, the four Arreola brothers managed in their modest, unassuming way to produce a compendium of smash-hit romantic ballads and sunny tunes. The ardent pleas of vocalists Juan and Jaime make sweet harmony in the opener, "Quiero Ser," whereas "Te Prometo" offers up harder fare. Here the bajo sexto grabs the spotlight, overpowering the usual suspects (the snare and the accordion). But the good-natured inclinations of this quartet manage to weave their way into the core of every song. Love and affection infuse the high-pitched harmonies on the closing track. It is almost certain that a little sunshine will visit the heart of anyone who listens to this talented and warm-hearted bunch--Los Palominos's easy-going Tejano attitude is sure to make an ordinary and dull day a whole lot brighter.
