Experimental sound artists Aaron Dilloway and Jason Lescalleet have combined forces live and on record several times, complementing each other greatly with their acute respective talents for manipulation and expansion of tape loops and other noisy implements. 2015's Popeth follows 2012's Grapes & Snakes as the duo's second installment of horrific repetitions, gnarled electronics, and generally frigid sonic environments. Broken up into three lengthy pieces, Popeth finds Dilloway and Lescalleet tracking each other's slowly evolving tape loops as they thaw into black pools of sickly sounding electronics bouncing hypnotically across the stereo field until they threaten listeners with intense vertigo. A fantastic set of cold, terrifying sounds made by two masters of the craft.
