This early recording from singer Cathy Segal-Garcia has some strong originals ("When You Wish Upon a Star" is the only standard), excellent singing from Segal-Garcia (who has grown a great deal since then) and backup by both acoustic and electric musicians including keyboardist Russell Ferrante, pianist Rick Helzer and many other Los Angeles-based musicians. Highlights include "Mr. Hall" (dedicated to guitarist Jim Hall), "Diane" and "Everything's Down to Earth." A fine early set from Cathy Segal-Garcia, who deserves to record much more often.
