AllMusic Review by

Hammer dulcimer player Malcolm Dalglish is joined by a children's choir dubbed the Ooolites on this album of choral works originally commissioned by various choirs, schools, and other organizations in the Midwest. In addition to original pieces, Dalglish sets poems by Longfellow and others, and adapts various British and American folk tunes about rural life, animals, and nature. Though there are occasional added instruments-bagpipes on "Epitaph," guitar, piano, fiddle, and percussion elsewhere-this is primarily music for voices and dulcimer, the variety being provided largely through the various combinations of voices and the arrangements for performances that are austerely beautiful.
