If you're a musician and you go on record voicing you're a surfer, nine times out of time, it means you're part of a skate punk band. But this proves not to be the case with Delaware native Ian Walsh. Throughout his 2008 full-length debut, Please Remember, the surfing-obsessed Walsh specializes in melodic, modern day pop tunes (that contain a rock edge). It turns out that Walsh is also a multi-instrumentalist, proficient at just about every instrument except for drums. Take your pick of any of the album's ten tunes, and you're guaranteed to find a song that would fit perfectly on the soundtrack to some O.C. or American Pie knock-off (especially the album opening "Happy Ending" and "Perfect Sense," respectively). And Walsh is no dummy, he knows a tear jerker ballad will get some of his fans all misty-eyed -- so be armed with some Kleenex before listening to "Now or Never." If it's modern day mainstream pop you want, it's modern day mainstream pop you'll get throughout Please Remember.
