TG's albums are so different from each other that it is always a surprise to discover a new one. Visiting so many styles, the musician has indeed more than one string to his bow. But TG Plays Over the Yellow Princess is certainly one of the craziest projects he has ever worked on. The process is quite simple and at the time it was so well-thought-out. Whereas John Fahey's album The Yellow Princess turns on his stereo, TG improvises on an electric guitar. But where the thing gets even bolder is when (remember that the album is a monument to folk music) TG plays saturated, distorted noise music. Pure provocation, sacrilege, or scandal? None of that; this is only a tribute, very imaginative and original, to a great composer.
