AllMusic Review by

The first Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes compilation to be released in America since Super Hits, this 2013 collection casts a wider net than that 2001 set, incorporating a couple of cuts from Southside Johnny's albums for Universal. Even with "All I Want Is Everything" and "Why Is Love Such a Sacrifice" on board, Playlist concentrates on Johnny's classic work for Epic, drawing almost equally from I Don't Want to Go Home, This Time It's for Real, Hearts of Stone, and the promo live album Jukes Live at the Bottom Line. Compared to Super Hits, this is a sharper, better compilation and even if it doesn't dig as deep as Raven's excellent 2008 set Fever! The Anthology 1976-1991, Playlist offers a concentrated blast of one of the great unheralded rock & roll bands of the '70s.
