AllMusic Review by

A collection of Muddy WatersJohnny Winter-shepherded ‘70s comeback recordings, Playlist: The Very Best of Muddy Waters may not be a good introduction to the mighty man at his prime but it’s nevertheless a terrific overview of these muscular latter-day recordings, anchored by “Mannish Boy,” “I’m a King Bee,” “The Blues Had a Baby and They Named It Rock and Roll,” and “Champagne and Reefer” and featuring three excellent live cuts, including fine versions of the Chess-era staples “She’s Nineteen Years Old” and “Got My Mojo Workin'.”
