AllMusic Review by

See for Miles reissued two albums the Ventures released in the mid-'70s, Play the Carpenters and The Jim Croce Songbook, on a single disc in 1995. Both of the records find the Ventures turning in mellow, easy listening soft rock albums. The Ventures' instrumentation is a little too spare to make these records sound as lush as they should, but both -- and Play the Carpenters in particular -- are surprisingly enjoyable, and may be of interest to hardcore Ventures fans, even if they are a slight departure from their style. [In 1997, One Way Records reissued the same two albums with two additional bonus tracks -- "El Greco" and "Love Is Blue (L'Amour Est Bleu)."]
