Actress Kathleen Wilhoite's debut album Pitch Like a Girl doesn't sound like the average vanity project because it isn't -- she had been concentrating on music long before she appeared on ER and Mad About You. Wilhoite has an appealing, husky voice, but the true strength of Pitch Like a Girl is her songwriting. She has a sharp ear and varied tastes, which results in an album that features everything from rocking pop to folk-rock to adult alternative pop. For some tastes, the production may be a bit too smooth, but the album remains an impressive debut.
