AllMusic Review by

Piano Tribute to Van Halen, performed and produced by the Piano Tribute Players, opens appropriately enough with "Jump," the group's most notoriously keyboard-oriented single. It's light, festive, and very indicative of the '80s, bringing to mind the stoic timbre of the theme song for Hill Street Blues. "Hot for Teacher" is as ridiculous as one would expect, "Panama" echoes the nostalgia of "Jump," "Right Now" still sucks, "Runnin' with the Devil" is the highlight, and "Jamie's Cryin'," even in Muzak form, conjures up the memory (for boys named James) of second-grade recess, the coppery, post-kickball-to-the-face taste of blood and cold March playground dirt, and the incessant bleating of the song's chorus from older classmates.
