This is the dub version of Together, Gondwana's debut album. Gondwana is a Chilean reggae band, and the cherimoya is a tropical fruit indigenous to the region; while the band was recording the album, a member who came up with particularly good musical ideas was given a cherimoya as a reward. Like the album on which it's based, Phat Cherimoya Dub is well-produced to the point of sounding almost shiny. This is slightly more of a distraction in the context of dub, which at its best normally sounds a bit more organic. But there's some great version here, including the militant "Guerra Dub," with its propulsive bassline, and "Dubba Langa," which is based on one of the best songs from Together. If you liked Together, you'll love Phat Cherimoya Dub.
