On the six-song Perfect You, Amy Ubelhor again presents her sweet vocal exercises over simple and dizzying instrumentation. The blistering dance beats accompanying Ubelhor's operatic, haunting voice create a hypnotic series of powerful songs. The deliberate and sometimes overcharged beats on "If You Want to Drive" are followed by the stop-and-go techno beats of "Beautiful." While Ubelhor's voice might at first seem out of place with blistering indie dance beats, the music settles down on "Simple" and "The Cure," allowing for her voice to truly shine over the gentler music. The album was recorded with Chris Bracco of Boys Star Library. Linnea Weiss guests on cello, and Dylan Willemsa adds viola to the opening track, "I Wouldn't." Perfect You was co-released by Bumblebear Records and Honey Records in 2002.
