Party! Party! Review

by Johnny Loftus

Die Party-Hits zum Abfeiern, Abtanzen, Ausflippen!, read the titles to this entertaining, if oddly-sequenced set produced for the German market. It's a mixture of well-known oldies' faves like Wanda Jackson's "Let's Have a Party," "Mony Mony" from Tommy James & the Shondells, and bubblegum pop from the likes of Ohio Express and 1910 Fruitgum Company. But there's also latter-day material, from Suzi Quatro's glammy cover of "Glad All Over" to Mungo Jerry's "In the Summertime," which always seems to find its way onto this sort of comp. In between there's a clutch of hits that never quite surfaced in the U.S., including "Et Moi, Et Moi, Et Moi" from Jacques Dutronc, and Showaddywaddy's fun '50s/Sha Na Na shtick.
