Listeners might look for something upbeat and cheerful from an album titled Pagan Pop, and it does have that, on "Spiral Dance," yet it also offers a lot more. Zorah Staar has an interesting voice -- it's very vibrant and full of sincerity. Heartful singing. That's it. She has heart and spirit, both. This lady's genuine -- she rings true. "I Am With You Always" is a truly moving lullaby, affirming and nurturing. This is a good song to play for a beloved child. "The Story of My Birth" is a significant transformation song, from feelings of shame to a changed and elevated vision that confirms, "The spark you are was beauty first." Clearly this is a celebration of Staar's own healing process, and others on similar paths will find it moving as well. And anyone with relatives whose "different choices" have taken them in diverging directions may well feel touched by "I Love Them Still." There may be tears of release with this one, yet that's life-affirming too. In all, this is music to take to heart, as that is where it comes from. It can be found on Zorah Staar's website: www.paganpopmusic.com.
