AllMusic Review by

Much more than your ordinary DJ mix album, Own takes the mix album concept to another level. Sure, you get a wonderful double-disc collection of music titled "Sound" -- one set of lounge spun by Xavier; one set of house spun by Phase. However, you also get a marvelous little picture book titled "View" -- countless glossy color photos, most sexually charged and somewhat disturbing in a Euro-chic sort of way. Taken on their own, both the "Sound" double-disc CD and the "View" photo book are amazing. The CD features lots of great songs, particularly the house mix, which features tracks like Nick Holder's "Sometime I'm Blue" and Miguel Migs' "Roscoes Revenge." The photo book is similarly great, presenting you with provocative photos that are vague yet inter-linked in some uncanny way. If you synthesize the music and photos, both suddenly cause a more striking effect, complimenting one another.
