Although Les Brown's band was never really on the cutting edge of music, it recorded quite steadily during the 1940s and '50s. This 10" LP has eight performances that have rarely ever been reissued. The music is essentially superior dance music rather than jazz, although there are some short solos along the way; most notable among the sidemen are trombonist Ray Sims and tenor saxophoinst Dave Pell (a couple years before he formed the Dave Pell Octet). The music (arranged by Frank Comstock) swings and shows the influence of West Coast jazz while emphasizing melodic music.
