This CD release puts two obscure albums by the avant-garde guitarist on CD for the first time; with the original LPs being holy-grail experimental guitar recordings, it's no surprise that reissue coordinators Jim O'Rourke and David Grubbs chose this seminal work for their Dexters Cigar reissue program. In a similar manner to the Fred Frith explorations of the outer regions of guitar on Guitar Solos, these pieces are similarly composed and improvised from feedback and noise. A repertoire of extended and avant-garde techniques that result in textures unknown to the six-string world -- or at least scarcely utilized in such a powerful and eloquent manner. Electro-acoustic avant-garde experiments rarely sounded so arresting. Outside Aloha Pleasure is essential listening, a groundbreaking work in improvisation and avant-garde music.
