On a long tour centered around the release of his previous CD, guitarist Skip Heller took a brief departure and recorded an informal jam session-flavored trio set with organist Lucas Brown and drummer John F. Kennedy (his real name). Although there is a low-budget feel about the production and the recording quality is not flawless, the music is full of joy and solid swing. It is unusual to hear an organ trio romping through "Lost Weekend," which is associated with Woody Herman's First Herd and "Mambo Inn" really cooks. Considered by Heller to be a typical night of live Philly bar band jazz, the results are fun and easily recommended to fans of the genre.
