The project of bassist Nanjo Asahito, Musica Transonic's Orthodox Jazz spans a broad range of styles, from garage, hard rock, and noise psychedelia to bossa nova and waltz. That's not half as impressive as what Asahito does to these forms, submitting each to his onslaught of roaring bass. Though the album is far too extreme for all but the most adventurous listeners, it is fascinating for those few who like music in this vein.
