AllMusic Review by

As producer/compiler Bart Hopkins states in his introductory essay that accompanies this fine collection: "One of the special things about any new instrument is tone quality: how its sound differs from others that have come before." The unusual instruments gathered here and inventive musicians who play them make for some great listening. Some pieces are haunting, like Colin Offord's mouth bow on "Heavenly Flower," while others are more challenging, like Tom Waits' layers of machine sounds on "Babbachichuija." All of it proves there is music in just about everything, if you take the time to listen.
