No one has ever accused Tangerine Dream -- specifically Edgar Froese -- of not being market savvy. Well aware that die-hard fans (often called apologists and completists) of TD will buy anything with the TD name on it, Froese has recycled and repackaged material in dozens of different presentations. None of these presentations is a bigger farce than the CD single. In the case of the Optical Race single, the disc is actually more of an EP. There are four tracks, all from the album and identical to the album cuts. The unsuspecting buyer will get nothing new to show for the expenditure. To make matters worse, these are weak selections from a weak album.
