Open Wide This Window is the debut release from husband and wife duo Marc Byrd and Christine Glass. The opus has all the makings of Album of the Year. Dripping with production excellence courtesy of Steve Hindalong and Marc Byrd, the release is evidence of outstanding songs meshed with stellar vocal performances. The tune "This Window" has shadings of Byrd's last band, Common Children. Here his whispered vocals are echoed by the ethereal undertones of Glass. The cut is an earthy gem. Much the same, the tune "Mercy" is an acoustic standout. Byrd's guitar talents are textured here and shine throughout the opus, while his vocals deliver every time. "I Stand Amazed" is a demonstration of two musicians with a passion for excellence and a heart for God. Lyrical reverence is matched by a musical bed of acoustic guitars and orchestration that's extraordinary. While Christine Glass handles lead vocals with flair à la "Everywhere I Turn," and especially "I Love You More," her accents and nuances when singing with Byrd are unmatched. While originally a Common Children spin, "God of Wonders" is redone here and is both gritty and lush. Open Wide This Window is an absolutely beautiful and evocative performance by both Marc Byrd and Christine Glass. It is a most impressive debut.
