AllMusic Review by

At his best, Bobby Hackett brought easy listening to the level of straight jazz with his wistful, haunting trumpet solos, and if he was seemingly willing to tackle and smooth out anything musically, he seldom mangled or bent the piece in question to a losing fault. This four disc, 93-track set collects several of his mid-'60s LPs for Capitol and Epic Records in a single box, including 1963’s Hello Louis, The Swingin’est Gals in Town, Jazz Impressions of Oliver!, Bobby Hacket Plays Bert Kaempfert, Bobby Hackett Plays Henry Mancini, and 1965’s A String of Pearls, and Trumpets’ Greatest Hits. There’s a lot of Hackett here, which is great for serious fans and collectors, but it’s probably way too much for the casual listener.
