Bobby Rush is a no-holds-barred showman, and his R-rated live shows are an unforgettable (if politically incorrect) experience. That makes it a pity that this recording (like many of his others) is so forgettable. He takes blues standards, adds a few lyric snippets of his own, and transforms their melodies into virtually identical funky vamps. This quickly gets uninteresting. The extensive use of synthesizers doesn't help. And claiming authorship of songs that are so obviously mere adaptations of others' is a dubious practice.
