AllMusic Review by

This live duo date was recorded at the Celebrity Centre in Paris, focusing primarily on well-known standards. The exceptions are Konitz's free-flowing opener "Hi Beck," featuring his explosive alto sax lines over Danko's rich supporting lines; there's also Danko's "Candlelight Shadows," a moody ballad with a hint of hope. Each musician has a distinct sound that makes his approach to familiar songs such as "April in Paris" and "Struttin' With Some Barbecue" (which includes Danko's piano string strumming to accompany Konitz for one chorus) unique. This adventurous date is worth picking up.
